Alaska Visitor Information You Need

Much of the attraction of Alaska is the wild, frontier nature, but that requires preparation from an Alaska visitor. Information on the weather, wildlife, roads, and more is essential to visiting this only partially tamed and exciting locale. Information on Alaska can be gained from travel companies, but the best sources are the state and local agencies.

The weather can be extreme, but normally is manageable with proper equipment. The truly cold temperatures below -30 Fahrenheit are only seen for short periods in the winter based on historical data. The winters are wonderful in Alaska, bringing a different look to the marvelous scenery and enhancing the look of the Northern Lights. Nothing shows off the Aurora Borealis lights with its multiple colors like a clear, dry, and chilly Fairbanks evening. Even long time residents look to the skies during the winter to see the lights year after year.
